Paradise University Program
Stay Current with the Industry – Equip Students and Researchers
As a geoscience professor or post-doc researcher, you want your students to have all the tools they need to succeed academically and professionally. You also have research you wish to continue but may need additional software capabilities to compete for grants. The Paradise University Program is designed to address these needs by equipping academic institutions with access to the Paradise AI workbench without charge.
What Makes the Paradise University Program Unique?
Having gone through every stage of the university system, from BS in Geology to Ph.D. in Geophysics, Dr. Thomas Smith, the President of Geophysical Research, LLC (d/b/a Geophysical Insights), recognized the value in applying machine to seismic interpretation before machine learning was widely used for seismic interpretation. Under the sponsorship of Dr. Smith, Geophysical Insights created Paradise University Program to help academics and students with study and research in machine learning, thereby investing in future generations of geoscientists through higher education.
Universities and companies use the Paradise AI workbench worldwide to extract greater insights from seismic and well data using machine learning. Some of the universities using Paradise in the program include The University of Texas, Ain Shams University (Cairo), Stephen F. Austin University, the University of Houston, and the University of Oklahoma. Paradise is also part of the SEG Evolve Program, which the SEG and MIT manage.

About the Paradise AI Workbench for Seismic Interpretation
The Paradise AI workbench uses robust, non-linear machine learning and deep learning technology to operate on multiple attributes, facies, and faults, thereby extracting more information from the data, even below classic seismic tuning. Applying these tools along with knowledge of the region, interpreters use Paradise to:
- Identify and calibrate detailed stratigraphy
- Distinguish thin beds below conventional tuning
- Classify seismic facies
- Detect faults automatically
- Interpret Direct Hydrocarbon Indicators
- Reveal fracture trends in shale plays
- Estimate reserves/resources
