Lecture – Trends in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning in Geoscience
As part of the 67th Anniversary of the Asociación Mexicana de Geofísicos de Exploración (AMGE), Rocky Roden, Senior Geophysical Advisor at Geophysical Insights, will deliver a keynote lecture titled “Trends in Geoscience Technology – Today and in the Near Future.”
Roden will explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are revolutionizing subsurface interpretation and seismic processing. His talk highlights how geoscientists can harness these emerging tools to achieve faster, deeper insights into the Earth’s structure and properties.
Attendees will discover how new technologies are transforming the field, including:
-
AI and ML applications that enhance stratigraphic analysis, fault detection, and facies prediction.
-
Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) — a breakthrough in seismic processing delivering exceptional resolution.
-
Large Language Models (LLMs) that promise to change how geoscientists interact with and interpret data through natural language, intelligent summarization, and even code generation.
-
Digital twinning and automation, bringing synthetic modeling and self-learning workflows to exploration.
-
Quantum computing, poised to deliver exponential advances in computational speed and data analysis within the next decade.
