Deborah King Sacrey Joins Geophysical Insights as Executive Director of Operations
Houston, 17 February 2026 – NAPE 2026 Summit
Geophysical Insights, a leading Houston-based company specializing in AI software for seismic and well analysis, is pleased to announce that Deborah King Sacrey has joined the company as Executive Director of Operations.
Ms. Sacrey brings more than four decades of distinguished leadership in the geoscience community, including her recent tenure as President of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). An internationally recognized geoscientist and thought leader with extensive exploration and production experience, she previously served as the principal of Auburn Energy, her independent consulting firm. In that capacity, she consulted with clients internationally and advised the management team at Geophysical Insights on the strategic direction of the Paradise® AI workbench for seismic analysis.
Her engagement with Geophysical Insights builds on years of close collaboration, during which she has been a key advocate for Dr. Tom Smith’s vision of transforming seismic interpretation through advanced machine learning technologies.
“I’m delighted to join Dr. Tom Smith and the talented team at Geophysical Insights in advancing his visionary approach to empowering geoscientists through the innovative application of machine learning and deep learning technologies. These tools fundamentally transform seismic data interpretation, delivering greater accuracy, efficiency, and insight to the geoscience community,” said Deborah King Sacrey, Executive Director of Operations at Geophysical Insights. “Since Tom launched the company in 2008, I have recognized the profound potential of this approach to reduce exploration risk and unlock hidden geological insights. I am excited to contribute operationally by scaling Paradise® and supporting the next generation of geoscientists in achieving faster, more accurate results.”
“Deborah Sacrey brings a wealth of practical geologic knowledge to Geophysical Insights, and our customers will benefit greatly from her keen insights”, says Tom Smith, President and CEO of Geophysical Insights. “Paradise has been designed from the ground up to be a straightforward tool for geophysicists, geologists, and engineers, and Deborah’s extensive seismic interpretation experience and years of drilling successes will benefit the worldwide Paradise community greatly. Her appointment reinforces our company’s long-term commitment to combining AI technology with deep industry knowledge to advance exploration and production”.
Founded in 2008 by Dr. Tom Smith, Geophysical Insights has pioneered the application of machine learning to seismic interpretation, with the Paradise® AI workbench serving as its flagship product since its commercial launch in 2013. Today, Paradise hosts multiple machine learning and deep learning workflows (ThoughtFlows®) that dramatically enhance subsurface predictions through geoscience investigation. The software’s intuitive interface and robust supervised and unsupervised algorithms enable geoscientists to extract greater value from seismic and well data, driving innovation in reservoir characterization and exploration
